A week after legal marijuana became a reality in Colorado, NFL hinted that it might legalize medical marijuana to football players.
‘Opportunity for medicine’
Although it’s been legal to buy and use marijuana in Colorado since January 1, smoking marijuana is still illegal under the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement.
At an event, NFL Commissioner Roger was asked if the league would ever allow players to treat injuries with medicinal marijuana in places where it’s legal.
“I don’t know what’s going to develop as far as the next opportunity for medicine to evolve and to help either deal with pain or help deal with injuries,” Goodell said in a statement. “But we will continue to support the evolution of medicine.”
NFL major changes
In an extensive look at marijuana use in the NFL, Goodell also hinted that this could be the last Super Bowl in a cold weather country.
His statements are attracting attention just as Cleveland Browns Davone Bess is taking heat for posting a photo of what seemed to be marijuana.
