Here are some of the most commonly used drugs their signs, symptoms and effects:

Methamphetamine

This drug is one of the most addictive and destructive drugs available today. It is available as a white-brown crystalline powder or chunky crystals that resemble broken glass. It can be smoked, injected, snorted or swallowed. Its symptoms and effects include sleeplessness that might go for days or weeks, complete loss of appetite, extreme weight loss, anxiety, nervousness, depression, blurred vision and agitation.

Cocaine

If a person is using cocaine, you will notice that they are acting more confident and excitable. They may also be more talkative and sexually excited. They will have tonnes of energy and little to no appetite for food.  Users may seem healthy but continued use of cocaine results in impaired thinking, anxiety, panic attacks, scratching, hallucinations, paranoia, and confusion.

Heroin

Heroin is a fast acting opiate which gives users a surge of euphoria within seconds when injected. The skin of the user then flushes, the mouth becomes dry, and the pupils constricts. Users then become dopey and heavy which makes them fade in and out of wakefulness. Breathing may slow down, causing a fatal overdose.

Drug addiction can be difficult to shake off on your own. Rehabilitation programs are the best way to ensure long-term recovery from addiction. If left untreated, drug users can become a danger not only to themselves, but to their loved ones as well.
